EARTHBOUND ENDING GUIDE

The final battle is finished, but the ending has just begun - and this ain't just a list of credits, either!

From the distant past, your souls cross the spans of time to return to your physical bodies in the present.

The Chosen Four will each say their goodbyes in turn. First, Poo will demonstrate the power of PSI Farewell. Gift boxes will appear with letters from your family and friends.

Next, Jeff reunites with his wayward father.

Finally, Paula will ask you to take her home. You can refuse, but she'll still tag along with you either way. You'll regain control of the game at this point.

Once you've collected Tony's letter, try giving it to Jeff. He doesn't seem too upset that you've been tampering with his mail.

You don't actually have to take Paula home; you can bring her back to your house to meet your mother.

On the other hand, if you do take her home, you can still go anywhere that Teleport will take you, and there won't be any more pesky enemies. The entire world of EarthBound is your oyster!

You can ride the Bicycle in the Deep Darkness swamp.

If you get the book "Overcoming Shyness" back from the Tendas...

...then you can return it to the Onett Library for an intangible, yet substantial reward!

If you missed the chance to buy the house in Onett before, you can do so now. There's a Photo Man location inside.

People you met earlier on your adventure may have moved on with their lives. Frank Fly is now working at the Burger Shop.

Geldegarde Monotoli gives back his building to Enrich Flavor and takes a job as an elevator man.

Aloysius Minch, Pokey's father, drowns his sorrows in iced cappuchinos at Jackie's Cafe.

Out in Happy Happy Village, Mr. Carpainter hangs out with a cow and pontificates on the value of freedom.

Lier X. Agerate is still in his basement where you left him, but he has a few choice words for you about saving the world.

Hotel newspapers all over the world will mark your successes.

The Lost Underworld rock will actually say this as soon as you've finished Magicant, but it's easier to reach without all those dinosaurs hanging around. After it stops talking, it'll refuse any further attempts at conversation.

Many of the Tendas have new dialogue, as well.

You can still collect any photo locations that you've missed, too, although you'll only have Ness present.

The Stoic Club's door is closed to you now. Perhaps it's for the best.

NEAT TRICK! The only spot left in the whole world to find enemies is upstairs at the Scaraban Cultural Museum in Summers. If you managed to read the heiroglyphs and get out without defeating either of the Shattered Men, then it'll still be there for you to fight alone or with Paula. Be careful, though; if you lose this fight, the game will enter a never-ending loop of death screens!

Once you return home, your mom will mention a certain photo album, but she won't force it on you right away. She wants you to be sure that you've had a chance to try all the fun things mentioned in this guide.

NEAT TRICK! If you allowed the tough businessman in the Deep Darkness to pay your medical bill for you, he'll phone you after you've talked to mom. But don't worry, he's not going to put a hit out on you or anything.

You can also call other numbers on your phone list and find out what's happened to your dad and the various businesses you patronized throughout the game.

Once you've finally done everything you want to (and you can spend over two hours if you decide to talk to absolutely everyone in the whole world) talk to your mom again and begin the big finish!

After a full cast listing, the credits will roll over the various photos you've collected. If you only got a few, you'll probably find this part pretty boring. On the other hand, if you got all thirty-two, they might go by too fast for you see them!

Once the credits are gone, including a name that should seem rather familiar to you, you'll hear... someone knocking? What is this, the beginning of the game again?

On the contrary - it's Picky, and it seems he's got a mysterious letter from his brother. It seems Pokey's getaway might have been successful.
