SCENE 39 - STARMAN INFILTRATION

Location: Stonehenge Base

Maps: Map 1

This is probably one of the niftiest dungeons in the whole game. Not only do you walk through glowing pulsing neon walkways and metallic halls, but all the enemies you fight here will be aliens or robots. Fun! However, you should be between level 50 and 60 or above before attempting this place.

When you first go down the hole, you'll have to decend a ladder and exit the small entrance cave. When you exit you'll encounter the crazy neon walkways for the first time. You'll see the Eraser statue blocking your path, as well. Use the Eraser Eraser on it and continue. Odds are there will be a lone enemy waiting around the corner for you, most likely a Senior Mook. Take him out and proceed.

The first half of the Stonehenge Base is a sort of mini-maze; that is, there are multiple entrances and exits to an area. The one thing to remember here is to keep going down and right. That'll lead you quickly through the four maps that comprise the first half of the base.

TIP! The Stonehenge Base will be your introduction to the Starmen. Their movement pattern is a teleport, and there's a way to take advantage of it. Stand just outside their teleportation range (about 1/3 of a screen) and wait for them to teleport, then approach them. The key to getting green swirls against them is to approach them IMMEDIATELY, instead of letting them teleport into your group. This shouldn't take long to master.

Once you make your way through the first half of the base, you'll come to a big open area of metallic corridors. Odds are you'll be spending a lot of time here if you want to make your game complete! It's in this area that you will have the chance to fight the Starman Super. The Starman Super is the more advanced version of the Starman, but with an added bonus: upon defeating one, you have a 1 in 128 chance in winning the Sword of Kings!

TIP! The Sword of Kings is Poo's only weapon in the game, and this is your only chance to get it. Once you beat the boss, all the enemies will disappear.

If you want to try to win this weapon, check out the strategies in the more detailed Sword of Kings Tips Page.

Head through this metallic area and you'll come to a room where you can obtain an Exit Mouse. This is useful if you're low on HP/PP from fighting Starmen and you need to replenish at the Lab. If this is the case, go do that. Since you're most likely at a high level now, getting through Stonehenge shouldn't be too hard. Just play defensively if you plan to go through it a second time.

Leave the Exit Mouse room and you'll enter a mini-maze area. This place isn't too hard to navigate except that the lights in this area constantly flicker on and off, so your path is illuminated for a split second every two seconds or so. To make matters worse, a few crystals will be floating about this area, ready to attack you. Wait until the floor is illuminated and try to make out as much of the path as you can, then follow it.

In the next room over, you'll be met with a frightening sight -- this room contains tubes which house the abducted citizens! You'll see the Apple Kid, Dr. Andonuts, Tony, a Mr. Saturn and more. Who could have done such a terrible thing? Head into the next room over to find out.

You'll finally come face-to-face with the Starman DX. He can use PSI Starstorm α, so use PSI Shield Ω on your group to reflect it back. He can also summon other Starmen, so work quickly. If you have Multi Bottle Rockets, this battle should be a breeze. Simply launch one on your first turn. It should be powerful enough to take out the Starman DX in one hit. If it doesn't, use a few physical attacks to mop him up and end the battle.

Now that Starman DX has been defeated, the base will shut down. Head into the next room and you'll find that all the hostages have been released! Talk to the Mr. Saturn to get the Saturn Ribbon for Paula. Then talk to Apple Kid. He'll tell you he returned the Overcoming Shyness Book to the Onett Library. Wow, all that work and he doesn't even have the book! Oh well. If you've got an Exit Mouse, use it to quickly return to the entrance.
