TIPS AND TRICKS

Money-Related Tricks:
  1. Easy Money from Fresh Eggs
Buy, steal, or get a bunch of Fresh Eggs. Wait a few minute for them to hatch into Chicks, and then to grow into Chickens. You'll know they're fully-grown when they make this really strange beeping sound. Sell the Chickens and you'll earn a $98 profit off of each one! This is particularly useful early in the game.

  2. Easy Money from Broken Spray Cans
After Jeff has joined your party, stock up on some Broken Spray Cans, then go stay the night somewhere so he can fix them. (Note: He only fixes one thing a night.) When you wake up, you can sell the resultant Defense Sprays for a $61 dollar profit each. This isn't quite as nifty as the Fresh Egg trick, but it works, and you also don't need to wait a few minutes for a single egg to turn into a chicken. Still, by the time you get Jeff, though, $61 isn't very much money.

  3. Easy Money from Mushrooms
If you ever get mushroomized by a mushroom enemy, try to make it to the blue-haired healer at the nearest hospital. He'll not only remove your mushroom for you, but he'll pay you $50 to boot!

  4. Free $50
Talk to the guy in the Twoson hotel lobby a lot and he'll eventually give you $50 for nothing. This only works once, of course. But, hey, it's free money!

  5. World-Wise Businessman Debts
Talk to the businessman in Deep Darkness and have him pay your $500 medical bill for you with the understanding that you'll have to pay him back someday. When you beat the game and go talk to your mom, your dad will call you and tell you that he paid the businessman back for you. Nothing too special, but very few people know about this.

Item-Related Tricks:
  1. Spy to Get Items!
This isn't completely obvious, but if you use Jeff's "Spy" option on an enemy during battle, he'll check out that enemy's stats PLUS take any presents that enemy might have. This doesn't mean he'll always get an item from an enemy though - that chance is still the same as if you had defeated the enemy. This just makes it easier to get an item if you're fighting a particularly tough enemy, like Super Starmen.

  2. Rock Candy Trick
Get a Rock Candy, then some condiments. Sugar Packets or Jars of Delisauce are best. Fill your inventory up. "Give" the Rock Candy to yourself. This will put the Rock Candy at the very end of your inventory list. Now enter a battle and use the Rock Candy. A condiment will automatically be used on it, and one of your stats will increase. The condiment will be gone, but the Rock Candy will still be there. Repeat this as much as you want. The next time you level up, you'll probably get some incredible HP and PP increases.

WARNING: Realize that if a stat is at 255 and is increased by 1 or more, it will reset starting at 0. Obviously, this is not good.

  3. Powerful, Infinite Healing Items
This is just like the Rock Candy trick, except use any other healing item in place of the Rock Candy. Using the item during battle will use up a condiment but the item will remain. What's more, the effects of the item will increase (or not, if it's a condiment that doesn't match the item) a lot! Using this trick, you can have infinite Magic Truffles that give you approximately 90 PP per use!

A good combination to use for this trick is Salt Packets with Brain Food Lunches - it will always heal you 100%, no matter how high your maximum HP is!

  4. No Sound Stone!
Before Buzz Buzz joins your party, fight Spiteful Crows until your inventory is completely filled with Cookies and other items. When Buzz Buzz tries to give you the Sound Stone, he'll see that you can't carry anything more and will give it to Tracy to hold on to. This will free up a spot in Ness's inventory that would otherwise be unusable for most of the game. Just be careful not to talk to Tracy or she'll forcibly give it to you.

  5. How Insignificant
Check the drawers in the Threed hospital - in one of them you'll find the Insignificant Item. Take it to the man in the Twoson hospital and he'll give you a Magic Truffle in return!

  6. Fast Delivery
Escargo Express delivers surprisingly fast, but Mach Pizza delivers surprisingly slowly. To speed it up, call for a delivery, then save the game. Reset the game and load your save file. The delivery guy will show up very soon after.

  7. Backtage Pass at Topolla Theater
Use the Backstage Pass to try to get into Topolla theater to get a goofy little reaction from the ticket guy.

  8. Suporma Discount
If you refuse to invest in Orange Kid, but come back after Apple Kid has invented the Pencil Eraser, you can get Orange Kid's Suporma machine for only $50! Investing in him will also trigger a funny bonus line later in the game as you're leaving the Monotoli Building.

Battle-Related Tricks:
  1. Erase Enemies
This old trick will be familiar to most oldschool console gamers. If you see enemies on the screen and you want to avoid them, just scroll them off the screen by walking away. When you walk back, there's a good chance they'll be gone, or at least replaced by something else. This works even better if you go in and out of doors/entrances.

  2. Easier to Run Away
If you need to run away from enemies, a good way to increase your chances is to defeat a couple of the enemies first. You can also use Paralyze to get away almost every time. You can also run away nearly 100% of the time if you get a head-start attack. You can't run from event enemies and the like, though.

However, be aware that if you defeat a few enemies in a battle - but not all - and then run away, you'll earn 0 experience and 0 money.

  3. Avoid Automatic Wins
Once your levels are high enough, you'll start getting instant wins against enemies. If, for some reason, you don't want this to happen, remove equipment or have people in your party die. Then, when you touch an enemy, turn the opposite direction just before the swirl starts and you might be able to get a red or gray swirl.

  4. Self-Healing
If Poo ever gets a status ailment, have him use "Mirror" if he can. If it works, he'll transform and his status ailments will be removed!

  5. Healing Teddy Bears
If you think a Teddy Bear (or Super Plush Bear) is running low on HP, call Escargo Express to pick it up, then call again to have them deliver it back. The bear's HP will be restored!

  6. Avoid Everdred
Technically, you don't have to fight Everdred when you first arrive at Twoson. You can avoid him completely if you want, and the game will still progress as normal. Once you've saved Paula, he won't try to fight you anymore, so it's safe to visit Burglin Park after she's joined you. You can also use the back entrances to the park to get inside without him bothering you. This is a good idea if you're carrying a lot of food that you don't want Everdred to steal.

  7. No Enemies!
After you have saved Paula from Carpainter, trek back to Twoson and help out the Runaway Five. When they ask you to get on the tour bus, ignore them and go wherever you want. Until you get on the tour bus, there will be no enemies wandering around anywhere at all! The Mondo Mole will still be at Lilliput Steps, but other than that, you'll encounter no enemies until you go back and get on the tour bus.

  8. You Dirty Thief!
In Happy Happy Village is a self-serve banana and egg stand. If you take some items but pay no money at all, the guy watching the stand will notice. Then if you talk to him, he'll fight you!

  9. Avoiding Sentry Robots
It's possible to avoid fighting any of the Sentry Robots in the Monotoli Building, but it takes a little finesse and a Skip Sandwich DX.

Eat the sandwich before entering the hallway with the first robot, then rush to the first door at the top of the hall. Run through the room and go out the other side. Keep going down the hallway and get into the next room before either of the robots can catch you. Use the tables to keep the next robot at bay. Don't bother going into the Sudden Guts Pill room yet. Go directly from the next door to the top-right door to narrowly escape the final robot. It's tricky, but it's possible.

Here is a quick video demonstration.

  10. Defeat Clumsy Robot Twice
Get Clumsy Robot's HP down really low, like to maybe 50 HP. Have Ness put Power Shields on himself and Jeff. Now, if the Clumsy Robot shoots a missile at you, it will bounce off and hurt him instead. This should defeat him, and the Runaway Five sequence should start. BUT, after it finishes, the missile from earlier will bounce off the other character, which will cause the Runaway Five sequence to run a second time.

You don't get any extra experience or money from this trick, but it's kind of funny to see!

  11. End Crash
Fight only one Shattered Man at the Summers museum. When you beat the game, come back and the other one will still be there! If you let it kill you, the game will glitch and freeze.

Other Tricks:
  1. Monotoli Stays
In Moonside, when you talk to Monotoli, he'll disappear and leave you to talk to the Mani-Mani statue. However, you can talk to the Mani-Mani statue without talking to Monotoli first if you check the statue from afar.

  2. Periscope Teleport
This isn't useful for anything really, except maybe for show. Go to Deep Darkness. Go onto the grassy area and get the submarine periscope on screen. Use Teleport α to go somewhere and the periscope will follow you for some reason.

  3. Teleport Travel
In places where you move very annoyingly slow - such as the Deep Darkness and the Lost Underworld - you can use Teleport α to move faster. What's more, enemies stop when you use Teleport, so you can try to avoid them if you're good. Just be careful not to run too far, or you'll wind up warping somewhere!

  4. Open Hotel
After you get the meteorite piece from Onett, you can enter the hotel for some reason.
