T-REX'S BAT CHALLENGE
When Jeff visits the drugstore right outside his boarding house, most of the equipment sold there is way out of his price
range of $2. What makes matters worse is that he doesn't have an ATM card and thus can't access money gained by defeating
enemies. So nearly everything at this store is impossible for him to buy right now, especially the powerful T-Rex's Bat.
Or is it?
To accomplish this challenge and earn bragging rights, you need to buy the T-Rex's Bat before you leave Winters. The benefit
of this is that Ness will have a very powerful weapon much earlier than he should when Jeff arrives in Threed. The downside
is that earning the money to buy the bat can take a good amount of time. Luckily, the following tips can help shave that
time down to about an hour or so.
CHALLENGE GOAL: Raise $698 to purchase the T-Rex's Bat before leaving northern Winters.
CHALLENGE TIPS:
- First, throw away the Ruler and Protractor.
- Next, grab all the cookies in the room next to Jeff's.
- Proceed as normal and get all the equipment out of the lockers.
- Head to the drugstore once you're outside.
- Sell the seven cookies ($21), the Boiled Egg ($4), and the Big Bottle Rocket ($69).
- Buy the Pak of Bubble Gum ($1) to get the Bubble Monkey. You should have $95 now.
- Save! Remember to save a lot, or you could waste a lot of time!
- Head down to the shore, avoiding Gruff Goats as much as possible.
- Sleep in the farthest left tent. Jeff will fix the Broken Spray Can.
- Return to the drugstore and sell the Defense Spray ($250). You should have $345 now.
- To earn the remaining $353, you'll need to win items from enemies and sell them.
- Spiteful Crows drop Cookies ($3) 100% of the time.
- Runaway Dogs drop Bread Rolls ($6) 50% of the time.
- Gruff Goats drop Salt Packets ($1) 12.5% of the time.
- Focus on Spiteful Crows and Runaway Dogs. Sell items when your inventory is full.
- Once you've earned enough money, buy the bat. You've completed the challenge!
NOTES:
- Rest at the tea tent south of the store when your HP drops below 20.
- After Level 5, you can stop avoiding the goats. They'll help you level up faster.
- If you're desperate, you can sell the Holmes Hat ($29) and Pop Gun ($55).
Not having the hat will make things tougher, but you'll find a Stun Gun
in Brickroad's dungeon.
