SCENE 26 - SWAMPED WITH FOES

Checking the sign at the eastmost point of Youngtown, you'll find that a swampy area lies ahead. The area is maze-like, so be sure to check out the maps to plan the fastest route through the area. This is known to be one of the tougher parts of the game, but you should be just fine if you've toughened yourself from the battles outside Youngtown.

The foes here can come frequently and viciously. While still rare, the packs of three are especially rough if you're not prepared. The first half of the swamp doesn't sport the strongest residents of the area, however, so use the preliminary battles to warm up and study new foes.

After a sprawling path, a house emerges in a clearing. If you talk to the wriggling garbage can outside, you'll meet Loid's father: like father, like son, it seems. He'll ask you to register your name (you, the player) if you haven't already in Snowman.

Inside the house is...surprise! It's Pippi, all the way from Podunk. She'll let you stay at the house to rest free of charge. If you feel inadequate for the upcoming battles, this is a great place to train.

As you progress past the house and start the second leg of the journey through the muck, you'll find those tougher enemies. Kelly knows some pretty tough PSI and can beef up her defense like Nancy could. Crocodiles and Bison attack by water and land with hard-hitting attacks, often emerging in groups.

These battles may be rough, so don't be afraid to dish out damage with some tough PSI. PK Freeze r is especially useful here, dropping foes' HP bars to single digits for easy kills. Keep Ana's reserves up by stealing PP from Kellys or Omega Saucers, and don't skimp on the healing if anyone needs it!

Once you make it to the mainland again (the long strip north with trees), you might find Buffalo as well. These beasts are brutal, so don't take them lightly. However, once you find them, you'll know Ellay is close.

Soon enough, you'll find a sign with directions to civilization, meaning that you made it through the swamp in one piece. Congrats! Head on west to Ellay to explore the big city!
