SCENE 1 - VISIT FROM A SPECTRE

Location: Ninten's House

Maps: Map 1, Map 2

A mysterious young couple missing, an obsession, a lost loved one...what do all of these happenings portend? This past will very soon tie into the lives of a group who, bound to the earth, will ultimately alter the course of mankind....

The time is 80 years past those odd events. You, a young boy named Ninten, awaken one day in your house.

As you try to leave your room, however, your lamp will spring to life and attack you! The battle system is fairly standard, however, so you have nothing to fear. Keep attacking it and it'll break.

Exploring your house, you'll notice lots of tremors and rumblings. Something seems to be possessing many of the household items your family owns. When you enter either of your sisters' rooms, you'll find them panicked and under attack! Their attackers (a lamp in Minnie's room and a doll in Mimmie's room) are of the same variety as the lamp you defeated.

You can bypass the lamp battle if you tackle the doll. Both battles shouldn't be any trouble, however, as you have ample HP and they aren't terribly strong. Just keep attacking and they'll stop moving.

After you defeat the doll, you'll notice that it was moved to the top of the shelf in Mimmie's room. Use the check command from the menu to discover a small music box inside. It will play a small ditty. This mysterious tune seems inherently important to Ninten, so he promptly and permanently remembers it. After you're done defending your siblings, head downstairs.

NEAT TRICK! If you speak with your sisters after the commotion dies down, they'll each give you some Juice. While it doesn't heal much, they can get you out of some sticky situations early on, so be sure to pick both of them up.

When you're downstairs, you'll find your mother at the door. When you talk to her, you'll find that she's frightened from the odd event, but the conversation is soon interrupted by the telephone.

Talk to the phone. It's your dad, and he nails the problem as a poltergeist. He'll then bring up a similar phenomenon: PSI. Your Great-Grandfather supposedly studied this odd topic. To help you along your way, your dad remembers that your Great Grandfather's diary is in the basement, though the key is misplaced.

Going outside your house, you'll see your pet dog. If you try to talk with him, you'll find that you can mysteriously converse with animals. Follow your dog's advice to find the Basement Key and go back inside.

The first door you see leads to the basement, so open up your menu and use the key on the door. Inside, you'll find the diary along with some Bread and a Plastic Bat. Use the bat in the field to equip it.

LEVEL UP! You may want to level up here for a while. The rats that reside here aren't terribly difficult, and the battles ahead get tough fairly fast. It's generally a good idea to fight until around level 3 or 4 or, if you're more anxious to get going, until you learn PSI LifeUp a.

If you need healing, talk with your mom. She'll bake your favorite food, bestowing you with full HP and PP! Eager to help her son, she'll keep this option open for the entire game, so be sure to exploit her free healing.

Your sister Minnie decides to help as well by holding on to items you're not currently using. Give her the Basement Key, as it has no purpose any more. If you want some more inventory space, you can give her your GGF's Diary, but don't forget to come back for it later on, when you'll need it! It doesn't play a role in the plot for a while, but it might save you a trip if you stick with it.
