Head south to reach the town of Podunk. You'll find many people to talk with and buildings to explore. If you head into one of the first houses you see, you'll learn from a particularly boisterous rodent about the "door rule" in EB0: Only doors that are rounded at the top can be opened. It applies all over the world, so why not try it out on Podunk's houses?

Head to the Town Hall to have a word about Pippi's disappearance. The mayor will tell you that the energetic girl has disappeared around the cemetery. Of course, you'll want to fulfill your civic duty, right?

If you listen to the gossip around town, you'll hear of a terrible affliction on the town recently: a zombie invasion! There seems to be a lot of commotion about the graveyard south of town. You were heading there anyway to find Pippi, but now it seems a little more dangerous....

...so why not stop at the huge store in town? If you stick around the outskirts of Podunk and beat up a lot of crows, dogs, and people, you can amass enough cash to buy the Wooden Bat, raising your offense by quite a lot. Fighting until you're around level 6 or so should make the foes around Podunk much easier and will cover the bat bill.
