Right away, it would be a good idea to Use the bread you bought. If you Use it (DON'T Eat it!), you'll drop crumbs that you can follow back to without getting lost or having to battle. If you have a Repel Ring, use it as well. The enemies in here are just Rats and Barbots, the former not even worth your time to fight.
There are a few useful items here, but you need at least 1 slot in your inventory for the bottle rocket. While it may be easiest to return later, pick up any capsules or Life Up Creams you can before leaving.
As you work your way around the factory (consult the map if you're lost), you'll come upon a garbage can. If you Check it, you'll get a Bottle Rocket! Take this back to Loid.
As a note, this garbage can will never empty of Bottle Rockets. As such, if you come back with Loid, you can stock up on them and have a fair arsenal whenever you want! This can be very useful for the current area, but later on foes get tougher, so the damage dulls down compared to other items Loid can use.
When you bring the item back to Loid, he'll be pumped to start experimenting with it and his new explosives. However, he starts his work...
...only to make a mess of things. You better scram before anyone finds out about this! (Don't worry, no one seems to mind and the mess gets cleaned up immediately.)
If you do happen to go back inside after leaving, you'll find a secretive professor now has the room as his own. He'll sell you some pricey items, but most aren't terribly useful at all. The Sticky Machine is about the only good one to pick up if you want to spare the cash. The Real Rocket is a Real Waste, too, as it is promptly launched the second you buy it.
In any case, if you look at Loid's stats, you'll notice the boy's only at level 1. Yep, you have to train him for a bit unless you want him to die often, unfortunately. A trip to Magicant is useful here, as you can bolster his defense and train amongst weaker enemies. Take some cash out of the ATM in Merrysville before you Teleport, as it will save you a dangerous trip to the Benevolent Old Man.
While you're here, talk with the Swimming Cat by Magicant's entrance. He'll give Loid a Magic Candy that raises some of his stats. Lucky!
Now's the time to level! While getting Loid to level 7 or 8 should let you scrape by, getting Loid to the low teens is best. Train first in Magicant and try to focus on Grouchos - if you use their exiting trick to get more Exp., they may leave it all to Loid, bestowing him a big pile of experience. If you get comfortable enough, you should leave for newer areas.
